Acrylic paint is a fast drying paint made from pigments suspended in acrylic polymer emulsions and plasticizers, silicone oils, defoamizers, stabilizers, metal soaps. Acrylic paint is water-soluble, but becomes resistant to water when dried.Depending on the amount of paint diluted with water, or modified with acrylic gels, media, or pastes, the final acrylic paint can resemble watercolor, gouache, or oil painting, or have unique properties that other media cannot achieve.

Acrylic paint properties

The medium and binder for oil-based paints is linseed oil (or another drying oil), while acrylic paints use water as a medium for an acrylic polymer emulsion (suspension) that acts as a binder. For this reason, paint is said to be "oil-based" while acrylic paint is "water-based" (and sometimes "water-based").

The difference between acrylic and watercolor paint

The significant difference is that acrylic is opaque, while watercolor is essentially translucent.

Both acrylic and watercolor are easy to clean with water. Acrylic can be removed from the brush using soap and water. Watercolor pens, on the other hand, can only be cleaned with water.
