Oil pocket phenomenon in water-based paint
Problem: To make furniture with transparent colors, in order to save the craft and achieve the purpose of simple construction. We added water-based Color Concentrate to the topcoat for spraying, and the resulting topcoat contained some oil pockets or other unacceptable "face problems."
Reply:

Aqueous color concentrates are generally made of metal complexes. If they contain more free polyvalent metal ions or the topcoat resin contains some functional groups with strong complexing force, it will cause the resin to coagulate and produce microscopic particles. This causes fish eyes or oil pockets. Solution In addition to the replacement of water-based resin or color essence, additives that enhance dispersion can be added.
